Winterizing Your Tools

We aren’t ready for the cold and neither are your tools.

Cold weather is just around the corner. Time to start thinking about winterizing your tools – prepping your Outdoor Power Tools to keep them in top shape during the cold weather days. Whether storing or preparing for cold weather use, here are some tips and products recommended by Neu’s Service Technicians!

  • Cleaning

Give your unit a thorough cleaning and let it dry completely before moving into storage (see mfg specific instructions)

  • Changing

(Optional) Change the oil, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter… most people wait until spring, but doing before storage helps you avoid the spring rush. While you are at you may want to sharpen the blades as well. Lubricate all grease fittings, axles, bearings, etc. per the owner’s manual.

  • Remove

For smaller units (push mowers, etc.) Remove fuel from all equipment not being used for winter. Idle Equipment until it stops running to remove any fuel from the system.

  • Stablize

For larger units Use CRC06163 fuel stabilizer in units being stored
